In a distressing incident from Chemogoch Village, Bomet County, a 15-year-old boy is recuperating after eating a raw snake, leading to severe health complications. The teenager, who assists his mother in their traditional beer business, encountered a green snake captured and killed by patrons. He took the snake home, alarming his mother when he revealed it. Upon her reaction, he fled to a nearby river, consumed the snake, and drank water.

Subsequently, the boy exhibited alarming symptoms, prompting villagers to restrain him and transport him to a local dispensary. Due to the severity of his condition, he was referred to Litein Mission Hospital, where he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Dr. Valentine Mbithi, a physician at the hospital, noted that the patient was treated for anaphylaxis related to toxins from the snake ingestion—a case she described as extremely rare. After intensive treatment, his condition stabilized, and he was transferred to the High Dependency Unit (HDU) before moving to the general ward for recovery.
